About the historic Sedona pump house

Historic US Forest Service Pump House

Tucked away in a leafy grove at Creekside Plaza, Hart Pump House is a designated Sedona Historic Landmark. It was commissioned by the Forest Service and built in 1932 by the Civilian Conservation Corp. The U.S. Forest Service obtained a right-of-way from L.E. (Dad) Hart for a well and pipeline for the ranger station. The contract states that for this right, the Forest Service gave "one dollar and other considerations" to the Harts.

The Harts were allowed to set a pump in the new well for their own use and Dad Hart gave permission for a few local settlers to install a third pump from which to haul drinking water. It's simple cobblestone and wood shingle construction offer an a splendid example of pioneer Sedona architecture.
